Quiet Time Notes

Definition of accreditation:

  • The action or process of officially recognizing someone as having a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity.
  • official certification that an individual or institution has met standards set by the chief regulator.
  • Accepted and Approved.

From the end of 2024 to entering into 2025 I was studying the book of Hebrews. There was so much wisdom and beauty in the passages that I read it over twice to really grasp what the Lord was speaking to me about. Originally I opened the book of Hebrews as I wanted to ground myself in my faith again, so I started from chapter 11. I was so immersed in the wonder of the scripture that after I read the chapter I went back to the beginning of the book. During that time the scripture Hebrews 12:7 popped out to me. This is when I became truly aware of the importance of being accredited by God. As stated above being accredited is to be approved by God. We often care about the approval of men but what about the approval of God? The heart posture of David was so upright that he was sought after by the Lord. Essentially David was approved by God. (1 Samuel‬ ‭13‬:‭7‬, ‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭KJV).

But how do we know we are approved by God? The Word provides answers to the question:

1) We endure hardship

  • Hebrews 12:7 NIV “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?”

2) We share in the suffering of Christ

2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

3) We rely on Gods grace

  • 2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.

4) We both acknowledge and accept that He has set His seal on us

  • 2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

5) We place our faith in Him

  • Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

6) We accept that we are loved by the Father

  • 1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “We love him, because he first loved us.”

7) Because we are chosen by God

  • John‬ ‭15‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
  • 1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

There are many more passages that provide insight into this revelation of being approved by God! The most wonderful aspect is knowing that we are accepted not necessarily because of anything that we have done or achieved….. we are accepted and approved because of Christ.
